Dark Orange

The story is about a young couple who seem to have a peaceful life, but their relationship has deep problems. The woman suffers from a one-sided emotional relationship and makes the last effort to improve it, but he ignores her feelings, has sex with her and treats her like a servant. She becomes disappointed and depressed. He believes that he is a feminist and a defender of women’s rights. He criticizes physical violence and participates in the international Day of Violence against Women.

Director Statement

The short animation “Dark Orange” has a different perspective on violence against women. When talking about this issue the first images that come to mind are women with bruised eyes and bloody faces. Although such images are completely true, I believe that violence is not just physical and has other angles.

Behavioral and verbal violence causes more serious and deep damage to the soul of the victim, with the difference that it cannot be seen. Many people believe that they are true supporters of women’s rights and respect them just because they don’t beat women.

Many women around the world have their rights ignored at home, at work, and in society or even in educational institutions such as schools and universities. Think for a moment have you ever experienced it?

Physical violence is the result of behavioral and verbal violence. Let’s try to see and understand better and teach our children. Let’s start the change from ourselves, our homes, and the small environment around us to change the world.
